Flipbook/Billboarding Particles in UE4
Flipbooks are great because they are cheap computationally, but can make a big impact. For 30 FPS the game has to render in 33 milliseconds. For 60 FPS, it has to render in 16 milliseconds. Basically you use a sprite sheet and use a shader to play back the frames. Although I did learn how to properly make the Flipbook (like all the steps), Unreal has a node that is just Flipbook. It's so nice. Unless you need some custom stuff, it is good enough.
